November 2017 Newsletter

November 10, 2017 by Pat Dorn

Our November meeting will be held on Sunday, November 19, at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph Room of the St. Gertrude Parish Center.

PLEASE NOTE: November 19 is the 3rd Sunday of the month rather than the 4th.

Our guest speaker for the November meeting is Br. Peduru Fonseka, OSB. Br. Peduru will address the topic “Symphony of Life: Being a Monastic in the Contemporary World.” I have enclosed a letter sent to our chapter oblates by our newly-appointed monastic dean Br. Francis Wagner as a follow-up to the talk—Be Angry But Do Not Sin—which he gave at our September meeting.

As I mentioned in our newsletter last month, Br. Francis will be back in April to check our “homework.” If you missed his talk at our September meeting, you can access it online at pathoflifeblog.blogspot.com. The December 8-10 oblate retreat at Saint Meinrad features Fr. Justine DuVall, OSB. The topic of the retreat is: “To Flee or Not to Flee: Oblates and the Times in Which They Live.” For reservations, please call 1-800-581-6905 .

As there is no meeting next month due to the December oblate retreat at Saint Meinrad, I take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving, a Blessed Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

The January meeting will be held January 28, 2017.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
