We had a wonderful meeting last month, and it was so nice to get together once again after the summer break. Br. Francis Wagner gave an interesting and thought-provoking talk on anger, pointing out how we often allow small irritations and problems simmer inside ourselves until we erupt in anger. While pointing out the difference between justifiable anger and anger that is not justified, he also provided suggestions we could utilize to address small irritations before they festered into a larger problem. And—after announcing he would be back to join us again in April to continue the discussion on anger—he left us with a homework assignment (please see the attached sheet).
The October 22 meeting will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Joseph Room of the St. Gertrude Parish Center. As we will be discussing the immediate and future needs of our oblate chapter, please take some time to think about what you believe these might be. Some examples might include how we could attract new members to our chapter, or whether is there a skill or talent you might have that would help the chapter, etc. Please bring your ideas with you and join in the discussion. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Ron DeMarco wrote a very nice article in the Spring 2017 issue of the Benedictine Oblate entitled “What is an oblate? Let me explain.” For the benefit if those who may have missed it, I have attached a copy of the article.
We want to recognize all of the oblates listed below who have or are celebrating their anniversary during the months of August through November of this year. Congratulations to each of you!
