January 2017 Newsletter

The January meeting will be held on Sunday, January 22 in the St. Joseph Room of the parish center at St. Gertrude in Madeira. We will be continuing with the video of Fr. Harry Hagen’s Conference #3: The Catholic Way of Interpretation, beginning with Psalm 129 on page 7 of the Praying and Singing the Psalms booklet. Rosemary will have handout sheets for those who do not have a booklet. We are looking forward to seeing everyone.

It has been a long time (2 months) since our last meeting! The Cincinnati Oblates offer our sincere thanks and appreciation to Fr. Meinrad Brune for all he has done for the oblates and the oblate program at Saint Meinrad during the 21 years he has served as oblate director. He will be sorely missed. As Rosemary announced at the November meeting, Janis Dopp has been selected to replace Fr. Meinrad as Oblate Director. In addition, Fr. Joseph Cox, OSB, has assumed the position of Oblate Chaplain. Fr. Meinrad will continue in his position until June and is working with Fr. Joseph and Janis Dopp on a smooth transition. We look forward to working with both Janis and Fr. Joseph.

Our Chapter will be hosting the Ohio Day of Recollection on May 20. The theme of the Day of Recollection is “The Heart of Benedictine Spirituality.” Br. Francis Wagner, OSB, will be the speaker, and Fr. Meinrad Brune, OSB, will be present as well. Rosemary will bring us up to date on this at our meeting on Sunday.
